Join us as we celebrate the curiosity, innovation and sheer brilliance of 1,100 area students in grades 4-12 from public, private, parochial, charter and home schools in the nine-county metro area. The Fair will be filled with 825 exemplary projects developed by these talented students. And, some of these talented kids will win a piece of the nearly $7,000 in awards and honors. Judging of projects takes place on April 5. Judging is facilitated by professionals from the Greater Kansas City area, who are leaders in their specific fields of science and engineering.

Why is the Greater Kansas City Science & Engineering Fair important to area youth?

The role of a Science & Engineering Fair in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education is increasing as students learn about science and engineering practices by using them in their investigations. The experience of thousands of teachers and students across all grade levels and subject areas, backed by research, confirms that project-based learning is an effective and enjoyable way to learn the competencies required for success in career and civic life. In short, the Greater Kansas City Science & Engineering Fair assists in preparing area youth for success in their education and careers.
